Our pet cows Polly and Buttons (their vet calls them lawn-mooers, aw).  Favourite foods: sweetcorn and rose petals.  In this pic Buttons is starting the day with a healthy breakfast of hay and flowers from my stand at the bridal fair last week. A cuter alternative to composting.

the eclective bridal fair

Yesterday was a fantastic afternoon at The Eclective bridal showcase.  Thanks to everyone who came down to see us.  I had so much fun bringing a little piece of the countryside down to the city.  Boy were my cows happy that I brought all those hay-bales and apples back home again! 

All the arrangements from yesterday (see below) were made with flowers grown in South Australian gardens and fields; so inspiring to be able to use locally grown (often organic) produce.  Well worth the 4am start!  I think seasonal wedding flowers are always special because they carry with them the atmosphere of time and place.  Flowers that engage the senses and inspire the imagination.

Local beauties

White cosmos and David Austin roses, all grown locally in the Adelaide Hills (see pics below). I would love to be able to use only locally sourced flowers; there’s something romantic about using flowers that have been grown just around the corner (plus they are much fresher and last longer!), not to mention what we all know about carbon footprints, etc etc.  I’m excited by the prospect of growing more and more flowers on my own little farm for Bluebell Society clients.  Got your heart set on pink and white tulips for your Spring wedding? Let me know soon and I’ll stick ‘em in the ground for you in Autumn…

As the heat of February intensifies and bleaches the colour from surrounding paddocks, white flowers offer soothing relief.  David Austin “Windrush” roses and champagne dahlias mingle with the cool greens of sedum buds. Classic and romantic for a summer wedding.
